WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • On February 20, the 8th Annual District 3 5K Resolution Run and Fitness Challenge will take place virtually
  • The event is free and open to the public

On Friday, Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran announced that the 8th Annual District 3 Virtual 5K Resolution Run and Fit Challenge is set to take place on Saturday, February 20, 2021. This all-day event will incorporate activities for all ages and fitness levels.

“We wanted to continue our annual 5K tradition and because our event is virtual this year, we included all fitness activities – biking, running, golfing, kayaking – so everyone can participate!" said Viagran, who is now serving her final three months in office. "We want to encourage our community - no matter your fitness level or age, you can get moving doing your favorite activity."

Many 5K runs charge a registration fee, which can prevent or discourage some runners from participating. This event, however, is free and open to all fitness levels.  As an added incentive, the first 200 people who register will receive a t-shirt and swag bag.

“Being active and outdoors has really helped our community this year," said Viagran, likely referencing Covid-19 safety protocols which have restricted large gatherings. "I would like to thank our partners who have continued to support this event and our community for participating.”

Registration is now open and interested parties may visit District 3’s website to sign up. For more information, please contact Kristy Hernandez at kristy.hernandez@sanantonio.gov or at 210-207-0969.
